REVIEW: Continental Hotel Budapest

A gem of a Hotel in the centre of the Jewish Quarter in Budapest. An incredibly designed hotel, with a gorgeous interior, attentive staff and cheap rates. What's not to like?

The Hotel

The Continental Hotel Budapest is located in the Jewish Quarter, it is a four star rated hotel and the trip advisor reviews match up to this rating, best prices can be found on Agoda. It is a 19th century building with a classic Budapest feel, however the facilities are not dated, the rooms are basic but with everything you might need and most importantly were clean and comfortable. The hotel also has a restaurant where you can have breakfast at an extra charge, which varies between the websites you book with. The rooftop spa is a nice addition, this is charged as an extra and is paid for at the end of your stay. It features two indoor pools, one outdoor and a sauna and steam room inside, there is also an area with sun beds if you fancy relaxing for a while, after all city breaks can be tiring.

Location

This hotel is in a fantastic location which is in the Jewish Quarter, once you know how to get there (the hotel is tucked away from the main square and subway station) it's easy to reach from the local subway station and there are lots of shops and restaurants nearby. We visited the Hungarian National Museum, New York Café which was spectacular inside and the Oinos Wine bar which was just a little walk up the road. Being so close to the metro it's easily accessible and the super cheap prices of the metro can take you anywhere in the city.

Price

Depending on the time of the year you go, but if you search around for prices you can get a really good deal on this hotel. We stayed mid August in a twin standard room for around £60 per night, with cheap flights and transport within the city this makes for a cheap affordable city break with loads of culture and tonnes of quirky bars and restaurants.

Overall I'd give this hotel a 4/5, it's not the most amazing room I've ever stayed in but it was simple, comfortable and clean. The location was great and there were plenty of places to eat out around the hotel. I'm looking to go again this year and haven't since found anywhere thats as nice for the same price so I'll be booking to stay here again this year.
