Things you have to do in Budapest

Last summer I travelled to Budapest with my best friend. It was a city I'd not given much thought to previously and we'd decided to go there on a whim, so here are a few of the things we did while we were there are you should too!

Szechenyi Baths

The bath should be at the top of your list when you visit babe we went to the Schatzie baths and it has a great expanse of outdoor and indoor bowls, there is a changing area and lockers are available. You can also hire a room to change and keep your belongings.

2. Margaret Island

Margaret Island is the site of the seas get festival, it's an island in between the Buda and pest sides of the city and can be reached by bridge. Complete with a musical fountain and bike hire you can Cycle your way round this island and it's a great place to spend half a day exploring.

3. Buda Castle

BUDA castle is at the top of the city and when you reach it they're great views from all directions. The towns around to get is quaint and a lovely spot for a bite to eat.

4. Citadella @ Gellért Hill

Gellért hill is a high hill overlooking the Danube and is named after Saint Hughes trying to death from hell. Climbed to the top for a view over the city or visit Gellért square at the foot of the hill to go to the baths.

5. Lake Balaton

Lake Balaton is outside Budapest but if you have a spare day it's worth taking a look, with its beaches this massive lake is a great sport if you want to relax for the day.

6. Heroes' Square

Heroes' square is a well worthwhile stop on your way to city Park or if you fancy the museums that border heroes' square. You can visit the Museum of fine arts and Hall of Arts while you're here and make your way past the arch into the city Park.

7. City Park

City Park was one of my favourite attractions in Budapest. The park itself has many attractions, try the boating lake in front of the castle, here you can hire a boat and explore the lake and after get a drink next to lake when you're tired from all the rowing. The park itself is stunning and a great place for an afternoon walk, you can also find the circus at the opposite end of the park and there is a restaurant in the centre of the park which is just great food. This is a great area for a day out and I must see if you're visiting Budapest.

8. Shopping at Il Bacio Di Stile

This is one of the most amazing and ornate shopping destinations I've ever been to, when you walk past the store and the smell will draw you in, where you will be greeted with lush carpets and luxury goods. Although I couldn't actually afford to buy anything from here it was an amazing story to take a look around and I definitely recommend it if you're shopping in Budapest.

9. Drinks at the 360 Bar

When you're done with a hard day shopping visit the 360 bar in Budapest, it's been rated one of the best rooftop bars in Budapest and we definitely agree. Grab a refreshing drink in the sun during the day and at night go for the music and cocktails as it's a perfect place to spend your night watching the sun go down over the city.
